Labour Delivers A New Anti-Social Behaviour And Crime CCTV Network For Westminster

Labour-run Westminster City Council is restoring public CCTV to our city to help tackle anti-social behaviour and crime in our local communities.

The new network of 100 high-tech digital cameras will be placed in priority areas for Westminster residents with the job of helping the police crackdown on anti-social behaviour and capturing evidence needed for prosecution in court.

Westminster is the only Council in London not to operate public realm CCTV cameras to help tackle crime and anti-social behaviour because former Cllr Nickie Aiken (now MP for Cities of London and Westminster) took the decision under the previous Conservative Administration to scrap the Council’s CCTV system in 2016, citing the impact of her own Government’s austerity.

Supporting Dolphin Square Residents

Pimlico South Councillors have been working with our Parliamentary Candidate Rachel Blake on supporting residents in Dolphin Square. We are concerned about the temporary closure of the art deco shopping arcade and the impact of this closure on the businesses that remain in the arcade including those who have been there for many years.

Protecting Our Environment

We have taken up a number of issues with our City inspectors including graffiti on shopfronts on Lupus Street, fly tipping on Claverton Street and dumping of e-bikes.

Food Waste Bins

A new food waste bin is planned for the corner of Winchester street and Cumberland Street. The introduction of the food waste recycling has proved a  popular addition with residents having individual food waste bins as well as neighbourhood food waste bins on the street.

2024 Councillors Surgeries

From January 2024 surgeries will only be held in Churchill Residents Hall, Churchill Gardens, Pimlico, SW1V 3AL and will take place from 6.30 – 8pm on the following dates: 7 February, 6 March, 3 April, 5 June, 3 July, 7 August, 4 September, 2 October, 6 November and 4 December.
