Labour Westminster Council has completed the first phase of a major scheme to revitalise shopfronts along Harrow Road, bringing new life and colour to the high street.
Funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), the project has supported over a dozen independent businesses with grants of up to £15,000 to restore, repaint and redesign their shopfronts. From bespoke signage to façade repairs, the work is already making a tangible difference, both in how the street looks and in how local people feel about their high street.
The first phase has focused on “light touch” improvements – repainting, new signage, and architectural repairs – designed to be delivered quickly and at lower cost. This allowed more businesses to take part, maximising the visible transformation along the street.
Participating businesses include:
- Lane’s Jewellers at 397 Harrow Road, now with a stylish mint-green façade
- Freta Hair & Cosmetics (540 Harrow Road), sporting a striking new awning and pink colour palette
- Crystal’s Fish Bar (407 Harrow Road), with a contemporary monochrome update
- Deluxe Off Licence, Harrow Road Grocers, and Luxe Blinds also saw major aesthetic improvements
