Since Labour replaced the Conservatives running Westminster City Council in May 2022, we are working hard to improve life for Vincent Square residents. We are:

  • Tackling anti-social behaviour with 12 new CCTV cameras in and around Vincent Square ward and 2 more in Carlisle Place and Ashley Place coming very soon.
  • Building more affordable homes – at least 1350 new social and truly affordable homes by 2030.
  • Serving free school meals to all 3-14 year olds
  • Helping rough sleepers off the streets with over 150 extra beds this winter and at least £2 million extra investment in 2025.
  • Providing Council support to help local people with the cost-of-living crisis – through a £25 million Council fund
  • Standing up for private renters with a new local licensing scheme to raise standards and getting ready to implement the Labour Government’s new Renter’s Rights Bill.
  • Keeping the Council Tax low – the second lowest in the country!

This by-election has been caused by the sad death of Councillor Gillian Arrindell, the first Labour Councillor for Vincent Square Ward, who was elected in May 2022.

Joanna Camadoo-Rothwell, Labour’s candidate in the Vincent Square by-election on Thursday 27th February, is continuing Gillian’s fine example of taking up residents’ concerns and getting things done for the local community.

Joanna Camadoo-Rothwell,  said:

“Let’s not go back to the Conservatives cutting vital services like our city inspectors, scrapping CCTV and wasting money on nonsense like the £6m Marble Arch Mound.”

“I live locally and know how to get things sorted for local people. Conservative Councillors have ignored residents’ concerns for too long. We need a strong voice for local people and if you vote for me, I won’t let you down.”

“Only Labour can beat the increasingly extreme Conservative Party here in Vincent Square Ward. A vote for one of the smaller parties could let the Conservatives win – and a return to your concerns going unheard and unaddressed.”
