Taking strong action against rubbish dumping is one of Westminster Labour’s top priorities.

Data across Westminster for 2022/2023 (to date), shows the following:

• We have carried out 9,310 waste investigations.
• In terms of dumping by residents, there have been 1,861 enforcement actions – a 40% increase on the previous year.
• We have issued 1,476 warning notices to residents and issued 385 Fixed Penalty Notices.
• In terms of dumping by businesses, we have issued 197 warning notices and 2,079 Fixed Penalty Notices.

Issuing warnings and FPN’s to residents does require us to meet a certain level of evidence, which would stand up in court if challenged, hence the large number of warning notices issued to residents where evidence has been found that they are responsible for dumping.

Over the coming months, we will be continuing our tough approach to keeping Westminster’s streets clean.
