Newly refurbished Victoria Embankment toilets win national acclaim

Westminster’s newly refurbished Victoria Embankment toilets have earned national acclaim, taking home the Full-Time Attended category award for England at this year’s Loo of the Year Awards.

The refurbished facilities provide modernised women’s and men’s toilets, an onsite attendant, enhanced disabled access and a fully compliant Changing Places toilet. These improvements ensure the toilets are clean, safe and accessible for both residents and the millions of visitors who use the Embankment each year.

The refurbished toilets also feature bespoke artwork by artist James Lambert, inspired by nearby landmarks along the Embankment, helping to create a more welcoming and colourful environment.

The win highlights the Council’s priority of investing in high quality public facilities to support both local communities and the millions of visitors who pass through Westminster each year.

This is part of the Council’s £12.7 million investment in refurbishing 8 West End public toilets. Victoria Embankment and Parliament Street refurbished public toilets are already completed and open, with Piccadilly Circus Station refurbished public toilets scheduled to re-open on 3rd March.

These will be followed by refurbished public toilets at Green Park Station, Carnaby Street, Westminster Pier and Leicester Square later this year.
