Westminster Labour is delivering on our promise to make the West End a place that works for everyone – residents, workers, visitors and small businesses. We’re proud to launch Rupert Street Market, the city’s first dedicated evening market, showcasing the best of Soho’s creativity and character while supporting independent traders to thrive.
On 22 August, Rupert Street welcomed back a vibrant evening market, offering world cuisine, vintage fashion, books, arts and crafts, and a new kind of experience for Soho after dark.
The market, open Monday to Saturday from 3pm until 10pm, is part of our commitment to support small businesses and boost the local economy. By providing opportunities for independent traders in the heart of the West End, the market reflects Soho’s unique character while giving locals and visitors new reasons to enjoy the city into the evening.
Crucially, the return of Rupert Street Market delivers on a key recommendation of the Westminster After Dark report: creating more varied evening activities beyond hospitality alone. This is a first for Westminster, and a sign of how Labour is rethinking the West End for residents, workers, and visitors alike.
Councillor Geoff Barraclough, Cabinet Member for Planning and Economic Development, said:
“We are proud to be bringing Rupert Street Market back to life as part of our Westminster After Dark vision. By curating a mix beyond food, we are supporting local traders, encouraging people to enjoy Soho’s brilliant restaurants, and boosting the wider evening economy. This is the start of something different, and we’ll continue to evolve the market over the coming months.”
The launch saw 11 traders, including food, jewellery, and arts and crafts, alongside a dedicated space for community safety and women’s safety colleagues. Over the coming months, more traders will join, with the offer diversifying further on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights.
With balloons, banners, and summer vibes, Rupert Street is set to become one of Soho’s most colourful destinations, celebrating local creativity, supporting small businesses, and adding to the vibrancy of the West End.
