Labour's freezing Council Tax in Westminster!

Labour challenges Westminster Council to freeze Council Tax to tackle the cost of living crisis

Labour is campaigning across the country today to draw attention to the Conservative cost of living crisis; a crisis that is seeing Westminster residents face rapidly rising bills.

With the Conservative government about to raise national insurance in April and letting inflation run rampant, the pressure is on Boris Johnson’s flagship Conservative Council here in Westminster to take action to help residents.

Labour have been calling since November for Westminster Council to commit to a two year freeze on Council Tax. When challenged on the issue at full Council last week the leader of the Council to commit to a two year freeze to Council Tax. Whether the Conservatives are oblivious to people’s concerns or are planning a pre-election gimmick, residents have a right to know what to expect from the Council for the next two years.

If Westminster elects a Labour Council on May 5th, we’ll be on your side

We will freeze Council Tax until 2024, we will freeze rents for Council tenants this year, and crackdown on wasteful spending like the £6m Marble Arch Mound. Labour will work to build a better, fairer future for Westminster.
