Churchill Ward Councillor Liza Begum has called on the Council to help Ebury Food Surplus find a permanent home.

In a letter to Westminster Council, Councillor Begum says:

“Many residents of Churchill Ward and in South Westminster rely on the Ebury Food Surplus. During lockdown, I, as well as many mutual aid volunteers, referred struggling families to Ebury Food Surplus. In recent weeks, Ebury Food Surplus has also been providing support for Afghan refugee families.

The services Ebury Food Surplus provides to the community is vital and I am disappointed that they have not been offered a permanent space. It is important that the council support organisations like Ebury Food Surplus to continue serving the community.

I understand that the current premises at Bridge House are again temporary, and I urge the Council to find a permanent space in South Westminster as soon as possible. It is not acceptable to keep moving The Ebury Food Surplus and disrupting their services with temporary moves. “
