Praed Street taxi parking and engine idling

Labour Councillors have renewed their call to Westminster Council to take action to stop the continued illegal taxi parking on double yellow lines and engine idling on Praed Street, outside Paddington Station.

This problem has been continuing for well over a year with residents getting increasingly concerned. For example:

“Recently I thought road traffic enforcement cameras had been installed and the situation appeared to improve for a few days. However, it’s now as bad as ever and we’re forced to inhale all the exhaust fumes from queueing taxis every time we walk round to the station or do any local shopping. When they’re out in force it only leaves one lane for moving vehicles in Craven Road and ends up creating a traffic jam in Westbourne Terrace for vehicles that want to turn left. The traffic wardens do an excellent job when they’re scheduled to stand outside the Hilton Hotel despite getting verbally and physically abused by the taxi drivers (my partner recently witnessed a very heated exchange).”
