Council tax bills frozen in 2023 budget
Council tax bills frozen in 2023 budget

Labour-run Westminster City Council has announced a freeze in council tax bills, making them the lowest in the UK.

Today’s 2023 council budget announcement builds on Labour manifesto commitments to build a fairer Westminster and support residents through the cost of living crisis.

The freeze in the main Westminster element of the council tax means householders will pay an overall increase of just 18p a week.

The move is just part of a multi-million pound investment package due to be unveiled at tonight’s annual council budget meeting.

  •  Investment in temporary accommodation is set to be doubled to £167m resulting in the building of 270 much-needed homes.
  •  £11m targeted to ease cost-of-living crisis, including expansion of free school meals, grants for school uniforms, improved holiday activities programme, and hardship funding.
  •  Major cash injections in our communities, including £500,00 for adult mental health, £670,000 for community priorities, and £240,000 for family hubs.
