Westminster Council teamed up with the developers behind The Whiteley – the landmark redevelopment on Queensway – to promote more than 175 new jobs for local residents at a dedicated jobs fair held on 9 June.

The event, held at Westbourne Park Baptist Church and supported by Westminster Employment Service, was opened by Cllr Geoff Barraclough, Cabinet Member for Planning and Economic Development who said:

“The Whiteley – or Whiteley’s, as many of us still call it – has been an important part of Queensway for generations. This bold redevelopment has the potential to breathe new life into the area, and it’s essential that local residents benefit from that transformation.

“We have a plan for a Fairer Economy in Westminster, and a core part of that is supporting good quality local jobs. Today’s event, with over 175 vacancies on offer and 300 people signed up, is a great example of how we’re putting that into practice.”

Ten employers took part in the fair, including high-profile names such as Everyman Cinema, Six Senses, and Third Space. Attendees were also offered access to employment, skills, and training support from the Council’s employment service.

This initiative forms part of Westminster Labour’s wider drive to create a more inclusive economy that works for all communities, especially those who have historically been excluded from opportunities on their doorstep.
