At last week’s full Council meeting, leader of the Conservative Westminster Council, Rachael Robathan, strongly backed Boris Johnson over the partygate scandal. The series of rule-breaking parties, held during lockdown while others struggled to survive, have been met with fury by residents.

However, Robathan insisted Boris Johnson had acted “quite rightly” in his response to the scandal, and praised him and his inquiry into whether or not he’d been present at the parties.

She went on to angrily deny reports that she was planning to side with residents and come out against Downing Street and the Prime Minster, which is now under police investigation.
