Labour Churchill Ward Councillors Andrea Mann and Shamim Talukder were were at the Walden House Residents’ Action Day on 13th August.
The purpose of the Action Day was to talk to Walden House residents about their housing situation and how Grosvenor’s proposed demolition plans will affect them.
“What is being done at Walden is the time old tactic of telling people they will get a better or newer flat if they move, and if they don’t want to move saying if they don’t start bidding they will miss out – that they will inevitably have to leave. It’s a ruthless form of bullying by a Council that at a bare minimum should have got cast-iron guarantees from Grosvenor that social tenants would be rehoused in the new development.”
There will be another Action Day on Saturday 17thAugust.
