Bayswater Labour Councillor Maggie Carman will be speaking at a Public Meeting to set out Labour’s opposition to plans to locate a coach station at the former railway sidings at Royal Oak. Victoria Coach Station is due to close to make way for Crossrail 2 and Transport for London is considering moving services to a number of sites around London, including Royal Oak.

The Public Meeting is at 7.15pm on Tuesday 22nd at St Stephens Church Hall, Westbourne Park Road, London W2 5QT

The Royal Oak site is totally unsuitable as a Coach Station as it poses a significant threat to the surrounding residential areas of Bayswater and Westbourne. Increased traffic will have a major impact on local roads and air quality, as well as on our bus and underground services. There would also be significant challenges for Westminster’s rough sleeping services which currently assists new arrivals entering London at Victoria.

Labour Councillor for Bayswater Maggie Carman urged residents to sign the petition against the coach station and said:

“TFL must look elsewhere if it wants to build an alternative to Victoria coach station. It would cause massive traffic problems in our area, put greater pressure on local bus routes and disrupt local communities in Bayswater and around Westbourne Green.”
