We have called on the Council to tell shopkeepers on the Harrow Road to move their food displays off the pavement so that pedestrians can walk safely and adhere to the 2 metres social distancing guidelines.
A few shops have private forecourts which allow them to display their wares outside, but the vast majority do not and their displays are on the public highway and should be removed, including Zagros on the corner of Harrow Road and Fernhead Road.
Councillor Patricia McAllister told the Council:
“It is obvious that the trading on the public highway is preventing pedestrians adhering to the 2m social distance advice. I would be grateful for immediate action to be taken to clear the public highway.”
