Weymouth Street – update
Following our enquiries about cars regularly going the wrong way down Weymouth Street the Council has agreed to take action. The Highways Team say:
“We have completed monitoring at the location and although the number of vehicles observed making the banned turn from Beaumont Street onto Weymouth Street was not particularly high, it was sufficient to justify camera enforcement which will be implemented in the next roll out.”
We are assisting residents whose sleep is regularly interrupted by a faulty alarm bell in Paddington Street. We have asked The Noise Team to investigate and require the owner of the alarm to get it fixed.
As part of National Tree Week, we are supporting the need for more trees in the area. Trees help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions: trees create more space for nature, supporting hundreds of species of insects, birds and mammals. Trees are also great for public health, helping clean the air and providing access to nature that’s important for our wellbeing.
If you have any locations where you would like to see extra trees planted please let us know.
Westminster Planning Department
We are concerned to read that Westminster Council has continued to allow senior officers to accept gifts from property developers and other private companies. A freedom of information request has shown that, between 2017 and 2019, council staff logged 240 records of individual gifts they received. The council’s Employees’ Code of Conduct says officers “must comply” with rules on the “declaration of hospitality or gifts offered to or received by them, from any person or organisation doing or seeking to do business, or otherwise benefiting or seeking to benefit from a relationship with the City Council”.
