Abbey Orchard Estate
We have written to Peabody on behalf of residents on a range of housing issues.
We have asked the Highways Team to take action on this issue:
“For years and years now Vandon Street has been closed causing a nightmare for residents regarding access and deliveries. The exterior of the new development at 1 Vandon Street was completed some time ago so I see no reason why the portable cabins/containers need to remain on the street, blocking Vandon Street access.”
Simon Jenkins writes about how Covent Garden was saved from demolition in the 1970s –https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/oct/22/concrete-bungle-how-public-fury-stopped-the-1970s-plan-to-turn-london-into-a-motorway
York Buildings WC2
We have asked the Council to investigate a building in York Buildings which appears to be used entirely (and illegally) as Airbnb short-lets. Residents say:
“The building comprises 11 residential units redeveloped from an office building in 2016. Marketing of the residential flats failed to find buyers and since September 2017 all flats have been continually occupied by transient visitors, from all round the globe, by way of Airbnb or Airbnb-style short-lets. The operation is very professionally run, rather like a small hotel, with service personnel (providing bedding, towels and cleaning etc.) coming and going day and evening and “guests” arriving all times of the day.”
