Brunel Estate – Anti-Social Behaviour

We have been responding to residents’ concerns about anti-social behaviour on the Brunel Estate, including a recent issue around doorstep scammers. We have been communicating with the police and the council and a new project has now begun. The police say they have increased their patrols and monitoring of the estate and there will be further meetings held to enable residents to discuss possible solutions.

We have also continued to push for better security measures to decrease anti-social behaviour surrounding a number of Notting Hill Genesis properties. There has been a review of CCTV and additional security features added to car park gates.

Brinklow House Security

It was brought to our attention that the locks were broken on the security doors inside the block and residents were concerned about a burglary risk. The locks have now been fixed.

Wessex Gardens Repairs

Resident’s concerns about ongoing slow progress with communal repairs have been escalated and progress has now been made on the estate playground. Work on damaged flooring in Tolchurch and fixing the doors to bin doors will begin shortly.

Noise

We have been following up residents concerns about noisy neighbours for residents in Network Homes and Brinklow House.

Brindley Estate- Network Homes

We and Karen Buck raised a number of concerns about the state of the Network Block on the Brindley Estate, including getting the roof that joins with Oversley House cleaned and making Network deploy pest control to try to tackle vermin and flies.

Alfred Road Lighting

After a resident brought this problem to our attention, broken lighting on the footpath from Alfred Road to the railway footbridge has been attended to. The final column will be fixed in the next few weeks.

Dartington House lights

We have also asked the Council to fix the lights in Dartington House on the Warwick Estate. This has now been completed.

Harrow Road flats – Repairs

We requested Notting Hill Genesis urgently fix the intercom on flats in Harrow Road as it had been out of action for a month. This has now been repaired.

Westbourne Bus Garage – Containers

We have continued to put pressure on the Council to progress the legal proceedings necessary to remove the illegal containers next to Westbourne Bus Garage.

Elmfield Way

We are putting pressure on the Council, Network Homes and the Department of Health to ensure that the Multi Use Games area can be available for use over the Summer and have been promised that it should be properly back in use soon.

We also worked with L&Q to fix the broken front door on Union Court.

Westminster Academy – Safety Concerns about School Crossing

We have raised concerns about the safety of the pedestrian crossing on Harrow Road outside Westminster Academy.

Graffiti

We have managed to get graffiti removed from the area in and around Westbourne Park Station and the Metropolitan pub. Work to remove graffiti from the Tower Transit site on the canalside will be starting shortly.

Bayswater Children’s Centre and Flytipping

We have reported and eventually resolved the issue of dumped rubbish at the Children’s Centre on the corner of Shrewsbury Road and Westbourne Park Road. We have continued to raise incidents of fly tipping and rubbish reported to us by residents across the ward.

Oldbury House

We have been working with local residents and businesses to tackle dumped rubbish behind the block, broken lights and lifts.

Blomfield Mews

A lock has now been placed on the disused garages by Housing to prevent further large scale dumping. We have also asked that the remaining garages with broken doors and rubbish inside are also boarded up.

Stowe Youth Club

Following the Council’s announcement that they will be restoring funding for local youth clubs, after years of campaigning by Labour councillors and local residents, we are now working with the council and PDT around finding ways to reopen the youth club.

Bourne Terrace door

We helped one resident get compensation for delays in repairing the communal entrance door on the block. The council has accepted that there was a “substantial delay” in CityWest Homes repair team repairing the door.

Notting Hill East Neighbourhood Forum renewal

We are supporting the application by Notting Hill East Neighbourhood Forum to continue its designation for another five years. The forum covers Wessex Gardens Estate.
