We have asked the Council to investigate this issue:
“Weekend cleaning is haphazard. Some management genius decided to save money by having the lifeguard staff do cleaning work, too. You will see the lifeguards polishing, sweeping, etc. during their shifts. The decision certainly wasn’t made to make the place cleaner.
Please insist that they use professional cleaners who will attend to issues throughout the day as the locker rooms and bathrooms are not properly maintained. There is a blocked drain immediately outside the shower area in the ladies’ swim locker room. It has been blocked for some time and is obvious to all who walk by it.
Last weekend, I wrote a complaint form about it and left it for he Centre Manager’s attention, as it literally stank. A week later, the drain is still blocked with vile murky water resting on its surface. It is not healthy, especially for toddlers who are attracted to play in puddles.”
We have asked the Council to urge Thames Water to take action to stop the regular flooding of Hugh Mews. Residents say:
“The water company initially declined to sort out the mess but then agreed that since their operatives were the last to work on the pipes — which then resulted in the flooding — that they would fix it. Different crews come and go but no one seems to do anything. They show up, take a walk to look at the drain (when it is not blocked), get back in their truck, talk on their phones and leave.”
