As part of Westminster Labour’s initiative to improve safety and security across the city, the Council has installed three of the new 100 CCTV cameras in Hyde Park Ward – in the Connaught Street/Connaught Square area, in Connaught Place and in Burwood Place.
The CCTV cameras capture pictures that can be used in evidence against those responsible for crime, anti-social behaviour and rubbish dumping in the area.
All the CCTV cameras are monitored in the Hammersmith & Fulham control centre and reports are made direct to the police.
The previous Conservative administration had closed down the Council’s CCTV network as a result of the Cameron government’s austerity programme.
