Star Street 'name and shame' display

Residents in Star Street, Paddington, have started to ‘name and shame’ people responsible for illegal rubbish dumping.

Residents are displaying CCTV pictures of the illegal rubbish dumpers on a wall next to Number 1 Star Street as a way of deterring further illegal rubbish dumping.

Labour Councillors are supporting this initiative from residents and are asking residents in other parts of Westminster:

What do you think of this as a way of tacking the epidemic of illegal rubbish dumping?

Should the Council be taking a lead on this by ‘naming and shaming’ rubbish dumpers on the Council website and displaying their pictures at rubbish dumping ‘hot spots’?

Councillor Paul Dimoldenberg, Labour City Management spokesperson, said:

“We applaud the efforts of Star Street residents in taking action to stop the illegal rubbish dumping in their street. We hope this initiative makes the illegal rubbish dumpers think twice before they dump their rubbish in the street. We would like to know if residents elsewhere in Westminster would like to follow this local initiative”

“The Council needs to do more to support residents by getting tough with the rubbish dumpers, including the landlords and their agents who regularly dump furniture and household goods on the street.”
